The JSIS Convocation Ceremony (June 14) is separate from the University Commencement. Campus parking might be unavailable on June 14, we recommend arriving by public transportation.

Please allow sufficient additional time for parking, and walking, (where necessary) – traffic can be very congested on the day of graduation events. We recommend students arrive by 8:15 am. For more information on campus-wide parking availability on June 14 please visit the UW Commencement Parking website

International Travel

Please consult International Student Services (ISS) resources for inviting guests to Convocation who live outside of the U.S.

Health and Safety Precautions

Follow the UW Commencement’s Respiratory Virus Prevention Practices:

  • Stay home if sick. Monitor your symptoms and refer to the University’s Public Health Flowchart for COVID-19 and Respiratory Virus Symptoms.
  • Testing before attending the event is recommended as many people will be coming together from many different communities. Testing before gathering with others can help prevent spreading COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses.
  • Practice good hand hygiene. Wash or sanitize your hands at key times. Handwashing facilities and sanitizing stations will be located throughout the stadium.
  • Face coverings are recommended. Bring a face covering in case you need or want one. Limited supplies of face coverings will be available at the event.
    • Face coverings are strongly recommended indoors, especially for those who are  higher risk for severe illness or those who have high risk household members. Face coverings are also recommended for these individuals in outdoor crowded settings.
    • Follow posted building signage regarding face covering use.
  • Stay up-to-date on immunizations recommended for you.
  • Respect the personal space of others.  Practice physical distancing based on your comfort level and respect the physical distance others wish to maintain.
  • Virtual viewing options are available for those who are unable to attend the event in-person.

Balloons

Your friends and family are welcome to bring balloons but may be asked to store them in the back of the HUB Ballroom during the ceremony to avoid blocking others’ view of the stage.

Photos

Your friends and family are welcome to use video cameras at the Jackson School Ceremony and take photos as each graduate crosses the stage and shakes hands with the Director but may not block aisles or view of the stage while doing so.
